Orissa garnered three points by virtue of taking a 75-run first innings lead in their three-day East Zone Vijay Merchant Trophy under-16 cricket match, which ended in a draw against Bengal at Kolkata today. In reply to Orissa`s first innings total of 358, the home side was all out for 283 after resuming from the 0vernight score of 102 for four.
Abhimanyu Easwaran and Kaushik Mondal scored a half-century each for the home team, while Gourav Mohapatra and Bhabatosh Paramanik scalped three wickets each for the visitors. Orissa were 39 for two wickets when both the sides agreed for the draw.
Earlier, Mohammad Hasim hit an unbeaten 160 (22x4) to help Orissa muster a healthy first innings total of 358. He stitched together 115 runs for the eighth wicket with Debpriya Pattanayak, who scored a breezy half-century with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. All-rounder Debpriya too shone with the ball, picking up two wickets for 16 runs. Gourav Mohapatra and Bhabatosh Paramanik helped Orissa restrict Bengal to 283 by claiming three wickets each.
